The primary objective of the Savings and Credit Scheme is to make beneficiaries self reliant. The scheme targets the promotion of income generating and/or profit making projects for individual members.
The Savings and Credit Scheme operates within the auspices of the Kolping Family, consisting of usually 10-30 people. The Kolping Family has independent leadership, record keeping, and decision making but must work within the set guidelines and under the direct supervision of the respective Zonal Officer. To supplement guidelines set by the National Office, Kolping Families make by-laws to handle indiscipline among members for instance imposing fines to those who do not save regularly or attend meetings.
